Youth Services Program Registration Information

For information regarding Youth Services, please call 708-458-2880 x 106.

Please check out the calendar link here or pick up a brochure and calendar at the Youth Services desk.

  • Space is limited and a maximum capacity number has been set for each program. 
  • Some programs require that participants be within a certain age range.
  • Age requirements will be enforced to ensure a pleasant experience for all.
  • Age requirements will be stated in the brochure or on the website.

AGE parameters for programs is the age of child on  the date of the program.


 


 

Special Family Event

Saturday, October 25th at 2pm—Wings & Talons Hoo goes there?: This program will teach kids how to identify commonly found raptors by sight and sound. Raptors are birds of prey like owls, hawks and falcons, and there are many raptor species that we can expect to find around us, if we know how to look for them. We will learn where to look for raptors, how to observe and compare their shape, colors, markings and movement characteristics to recognize them. We will also learn to name raptors that we cannot see but just hear, by the calls they make. 

All ages show  No registration required.
 

Halloween Special Events

Tuesday, October 28th at 6:30pm—Monster Mash Craft: Get creative and have some fun making your own silly monster craft.

Thursday, October 30th at 6:30pm: Day of the Dead Bi-lingual storytime: Come celebrate the Day of the Dead with us at Bridgeview Library! We will read a bilingual story about the holiday and complete a fun craft. GRADES  K– 2nd MAX 15

¡Ven a celebrar el Día de Muertos con nosotros en la Biblioteca Bridgeview! Leeremos un cuento bilingüe sobre la festividad y haremos un divertido proyecto  de arte.


Friday, October 31st from 3 to 6pm—Trick or Treat @ the Library: Be sure to stop in at the Library on Halloween to show off your costume and receive a sweet treat, or trick!  ALL AGES

Fall Session 2

November 3rd to December 13th

Registration begins at the YS desk 30 minutes before the start of the program.

No registration required for drop-In programs.

Mondays starting November 3rd at 11am—Nature and Nurture storytime: This mom and baby storytime will feature lots of songs, reading together, developmentally appropriate toys, and nature based activities. Share a love of reading and learning with your baby as well as connect with other parents and caregivers! AGES 9-18mo MAX 10

Tuesday, November 4th at 4pm—A Very Hungry Caterpillar Storytime: Join us for a reading of the Very Hungry Caterpillar. We will also learn about and use the same techniques Eric Carle used to create our own art! AGES 3-6yrs MAX 15

Tuesday, November 4th at 6:30pm—Sonic Seasoning: Ever notice how food tastes different when your sick? Let’s experiment and see if different sounds affect the way food tastes!  Grades 5-8 MAX 15

Wednesdays starting November 5th at 1pm—Homeschool Geography Club: Travel the world this fall with our Homeschool Geography Club! Each week will feature a different country and a new page in our passports. We will learn some words in a new language, play a game the locals love, and enjoy some tasty snacks. GRADES K-6th MAX 15

Wednesday, November 5th at 4pm—Apple Explosions: Come into the library to do some apple based science experiments! Grades 3rd-6th MAX 15

Thursday, November 6th at 6:30pm—Family Bingo: Come as a family to play Bingo! Prizes will be awarded to winners and everyone receives a FREE book for playing!  AGES K-6th MAX 20

Fridays beginning November 7th at 11am— Book, Boogie & Play!: The best of both worlds for our toddlers! We will read a story, boogie to music with instruments, and finish the remaining time playing together.  AGES 18mo-4yrs MAX 15

Wednesday, November 12th at 4pm—Origami Day: Come in and learn to make a cool origami creation! Grades 3rd-6th MAX 15

Thursday, November 13th at 5pm—Intro to Cross Stitch: Did you know that learning how to cross stitch can help young children in developing fine motor skills, improve hand-eye coordination, and in fostering patience and focus? Come learn a new hobby! GRADES 1st-4th MAX 8

Friday, November 14th from 3 to 5pm—Drop-In Fine Art Friday: Stop in during the program time to learn about famous artists and try out different fine art techniques! Grades 4th-8th

Saturday, November 15th from 3 to 5 pm—Drop-In Family Storytime Trains: All Aboard! After spending time reading as a family, we will be working together to make a giant cardboard train that we will take for a ride around the library! Grades K-6th

Wednesday, November 19th at 4pm—Kid’s Cuisine Pudding Pies: Do you think you can make a delicious Thanksgiving pie? We will be making mini pudding pies. Eat it on the spot or bring it home for your family to enjoy.  Grades 3rd-6th MAX 15

Thursday, November 20th at 6pm—Family Book Tastings: Book tastings provide kids with a low-pressure way to discover new books and genres, promoting reading enjoyment and a love for reading by letting them “taste” multiple books in one session. Grades K-6th MAX 20

Saturday, November 22nd at 2pm—Cross Stitch Basics: Learning how to cross stitch can improve concentration, increase patience and self-esteem, and promotes stress relief through its calming, repetitive motions. Learn the foundations of cross stitching during this program!  Grades 5th-8th MAX 8

Tuesday, November 25th at 6:30pm—Game & Puzzle Night: Come play with our  collection of  games and puzzles for you to solve with a friend or by yourself! Grades K-6th MAX 20

Wednesday, November 26th at 4pm—Thanksgiving Storytime: What are you thankful for? Join us for a Thanksgiving storytime and craft!  Ages 4-7yrs MAX 15

Saturday, November 29th from 2 to 4pm—Drop-In Lego & Play doh: What’s your favorite, Lego or Play doh? This program let’s you choose both! Come and be creative at the Library.  Ages 3-12 yrs

Tuesday, December 2nd at 4pm—Search for a Giant Squid Storytime: Can you find the giant squid? Readers will pick their own path in this storytime and create a squid craft! Grades K-2nd MAX 15

Wednesday, December 3rd at 4pm—Hot Cocoa Slime: Nothing says cold weather like a cup of hot cocoa, so come to the library to make your own hot cocoa slime! Grades 3rd-6th MAX 15

Thursday, December 4th from 4-7pm—Happy Birthday Youth Services! Activities listed on inside front cover.  AGES 3-12yrs

Saturday, December 6th from 2 – 4pm—Drop-In Family Fun craft: Gather the   family and come to the library for some winter fun. We will have puzzles, games and a family craft to enjoy. (Limit 1 craft per family please) Grades K-6th

Tuesday, December 9th at 6:30pm—Holiday Craft: Make a cute craft that you can use to decorate your own home or give as a gift! Grades K-6th MAX 20

Wednesday, December 10th at 4pm—Christmas PJ Storytime: Put on your favorite pair of jammies, grab your favorite stuffed animal and head to the library for a Christmas story and craft.  Ages 4 to 7yrs MAX 15

Thursday, December 11th at 4pm—Sewing 101: Want to learn how to sew? Come learn the basics of sewing, like how to thread a needle and simple stitches! Grades 4th-8th MAX 10

Saturday, December 13th at 3pm—Drop-In Family Storytime “Stone Soup”: Read a story together and then chop some playdoh vegetables. Stick around for a sample of real stone soup! Grades K-6th

Special Family Event

Blast off with Chris Fascione’s program “Rocket into Reading!,” a fun, participatory show that encourages imaginative exploration through reading. 

Children leave their everyday world behind as they take off into the universe of books.

Through his unique, interactive style of story performance, Chris acts out library books like There’s No Place Like Space! that thoroughly engage his audience, fuel the imagination, and propel children to become readers who are truly out of this world!

Bridgeview Library’s Youth Services Department is celebrating it’s 20th birthday!

Join us at 4pm for our Happy Birthday Storytime (Ages 3-7yrs) followed by a drop–in Create Your Own Story book (Grades K-6) from 5 to 7pm.

Be sure to visit our Bridgeview Library Memory Board to add your favorite memory of a library visit!

Special treats will be available to our birthday guests (while supplies last).
